2015 Burton US Open Recap
Winners, High Jumps, and Amazing Images
It’s hard to believe that the 2015 Burton US Open has now already come and gone. Thousands traveled to the beautiful Vail, Colorado to witness some of the most incredible skills in snowboarding today. The event started on March 2 and ended on the 7, but the semi-final and final rounds proved that the talent was hotter than ever. MINI was the leading sponsor for the Burton US Open, and it was undeniable as MINIs were parked all around Vail Village and on vail Mountain itself. The partnership with Burton and MINI is in perfect harmony, all the two lifestyle go hand-in-hand.
Burton had a shipping container, especially made for this event, where people got to enjoy the warmth of the indoors by the fireplace while being able to watch the action live. The stacked shipping container made for the coolest lounge! This reminded Schomp MINI of its shipping container that was featured at the Underground Music Showcase last year, although ours was stacked even higher and was complete with a photo booth and patios that had the perfect view.
The week of March 2-7 provided a beautiful backdrop to the event, and the main part of the showcase: the Halfpipe. When it comes to the Burton US Open Halfpipe, you’re going to want to get your camera ready because those Burton riders get so high in the sky with their twists, turns and flips. We were impressed with the amount of air that was had this year, and we have the photos to prove it!
Now onto the results… The United States has hundreds of award-winning athletes, but the women took it all this year. Female rider Jamie Anderson took first in Slopestyle as a US Rider. Our team also got medals in the 10th and 11th spots. And the Halfpipe is where the women really succeeded. The top three in the women’s Halfpipe all represent team USA: Kelly Clark, Chloe Kim and Arielle Gold made us proud and brought the medals home. The men at the US Open did an amazing job, but unfortunately didn’t rank as high. Eric Beauchemin from team USA ranked 6th in Slopestyle and Danny David and Taylor Gold won 7th and 8th place in Halfpipe.
Music performances on the main stage included Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Moon Hooch and Girl Talk, and Grandtheft, DJ Maseo and Ali Shaheed Muhammad. Riders and fans got to come together and relax all the music filled the air throughout the week.
Overall, this year’s Burton US Open was an astounding success. Congratulations to all the winning riders, and everyone else for giving their all! To see the complete list of winners, CLICK HERE.
