MINI Genius
Meet Schomp’s First MINI Genius
In 2013 Schomp Automotive successfully introduced Colorado’s first BMW Genius, Matt Rebeck. Over the past two years the Schomp Genius program has increased to 10 Product Geniuses. BMW of North America has also seen much success nationwide with the Genius program and has decided to launch the MINI Genius program. The objective of a BMW/MINI Genius is simple: Improve the car buying experience overall – before, during and after. Tying directly into the Schomp organization’s customer first transparent approach, the Genius program is a great addition to our future clients’ car buying experience. We recently sat down with Devin Scott, Schomp MINI’s first Product Genius who just returned from MINI Genius school at BMW of North America HQ in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. It was a five-day crash course (no pun intended) on everything and all things MINI.
Using only three words how would you describe the MINI brand?
DS: Exciting, innovative and irresistible.
What was your favorite part of MINI genius school and why?
DS: I really enjoyed all aspects of the training. The hands-on product time of it was a big part to be able to fully explain all the cool technology our cars have. It was also great to get ideas and insight from some of the other dealers around the country.
Do you drive a MINI yourself?
DS: I’m actually on my third MINI. Having driven them since 2004, you could say I’m a true MINIac.
In your first few weeks as a Genius what are some of the customer comments and reactions to your role in their experience?
DS: So far it’s been nothing but positive feedback and great first impressions. Customers love the fact they have someone to talk to them about the MINI with zero pressure and know that I’m around to help with whatever I can.

Can you help me better understand MINI’s “second date” program?
DS: The MINI Second Date is a great new program that allows a new MINI owner to come back in and go over any questions they may have on their new car and a quick review of how things work.
What future MINI innovations are you excited about most?
DS: MINI has some really great cars planned for the future! I’m especially excited to see the new Clubman – it’s planned to make its official debut next week! We may have gotten a quick sneak peak during class here at BMW/MINI headquarters…all I can say is wow! Also the MINI connected smartphone app and its future updates should prove to be pretty awesome.
I understand you have both service and car sales experience. What helped you make the decision to help launch Schomp’s MINI Genius program?
DS: Having been with the MINI brand for almost 12 years, I have great passion and knowledge from working with both the sales and service sides. I’m excited to be able to share this with any and all future and current MINI owners.
When can clients expect to find you at the dealership?
DS: You can usually find me in the showroom, (with Tuesdays being my day off) so stop in for a test drive. Happy Motoring!
